The mission of the 7 Mile Business Community Associa- tion (7MBCA), a not for profit NJ corporation, is to work cooperatively to develop, support and promote the business community for the betterment of the local population; to partner with local community groups to create and promote business, civic and cultural activities and events for the benefit of the local area; to facilitate communication between the business association and leaders of the general community; and to enhance the 7 mile island experience for the citizens of the community, homeowners and visitors.
The informal Avalon business community has been actively involved in advertising, marketing and generally promoting the emerging business community of Avalon as a destination since February, 2007. This cooperative effort has allowed many businesses to participate in a campaign that they could not have done solo. The sheer mass of businesses participating created a draw into our area - customers came not because of one advert, which they could easily have missed, but for the many opportunities to dine, shop, and indulge.
In addition to the co-op ad in the 7 Mile Times summer of 2007 and 2008 which included 86 Avalon businesses, the business community has actively cooperated to sponsor and fund very successful events.
